OUR SHARED HISTORY
The North Galiano Community Hall, as we enjoy it today, has history rich with contributions by many members of the Galiano Island community.
It was built in 1927 as a school with volunteer labour on donated land. In the mid 50's it transitioned into a community hall.
FORMATION OF NGCA
The North Galiano Community Association (NGCA) was formed in 1973. In 1980 the hall responded to the need for residents of the far north end of the island to have fire protection. This meant a fire department needed to be organized and the hall became a venue for fundraising events and meetings. Historical events held in the hall included Bill Banford's Fish Derby, Saturday Night Dances, Diner's Club, Wine Tasting Festival and a Casino Night.
